Short Kit and Full Size Printed Plans for the
Sterling Models Yak-9 Vintage Control Line Stunt Model Plane
This
listing is for a SHORT KIT which contains all the unique parts that are
required to build a model airplane in the resemblance of the original
Sterling Models Yak-9 and a full set of Full
Size Printed Plans which I have redrawn.
You will need to supply the rest of the standard parts to complete the
model.
Although
it is an easy enough control line plane to build this kit is not
recommended for the beginner. You should have a solid scratch build
skill level and some model airplane fabrication experience.
Each
kit is cut as ordered and is considered a ‘custom product. Most of the
balsa parts are cut with a laser. The one-piece fuselage is machined on
a CNC router. It may be made from several sheets glued together prior
to machining.

- 1/2" Balsa CNC Routed Fuselage
- 1/2" Balsa Canopy
- 1/2" Balsa Scoop
- 16 Wing Ribs
- Both Wing Tips
- Two Center ribs you laminate
- 1/16 Play Canopy Details (not in original kit)
- Stabilizer
- Two Elevators
- Two Flaps
- Rudder and Dorsal Fin
- Plywood Fuselage Doublers
- Plywood Wing Reinforcements and Control Horns
- Full Size Plans
NOT INCLUDED in
this kt are the hardware, engine, stock balsa sheets and sticks,
hardwood engine mounts, etc that may be needed to complete any control
line model plane. You may need (but not limited to) the following items
to complete the model;
- 3/4" typical symmetrical leading edge
- Approximately 8" x 10" x 1/16" Balsa for center wing planking
- 3/8" x 1-1/2" typical trailing edge material
- 1/4x3/8 balsa main spar
- 1/2" x 3/8" hardwood engine mount
- 2-12" bell crank, leadout wire/tubes, control rod
- 1/8" x 14" landing gear wire
- 2" Wheels
- 3/4" tail wheel
